SUMMARY:Rivers of Hope Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Love our Tyne and Sustainable Haltwhistle present: Rivers of Hope: The Workshop \nA 2 hour professional workshop exploring the notion of rights for the River Tyne. Delivered by the River Rights Network  \nGuided river walk and story collection  \nThe event will take place at Haltwhistle Community Hub on Wed 17 June. It is a free event but booking is essential. Bookings can be made here https://shorturl.at/ezPyK   \nAgenda\n10am Welcome and refreshments \n10.30am Workshop \n12.30pm Lunch \n1pm Guided river walk and story collection \n4pm Close \nRefreshments will be provided on arrival. Lunch is not provided. Haltwhistle has a number of cafes and the room will be available for packed lunches. \nAims\nThe aim of workshop is to explore the development of a Rights of Nature approach for the River Tyne. By the end of the workshop participants will: \n\nHave a raised awareness of the concept of Rights of Rivers and its relevance to the River Tyne\nBe inspired by practical examples in other areas\nHave a greater sense of connection with the river\nBe able to begin assessing the feasibility of developing a Rights of Rivers approach for the River Tyne\n\nGuided walk\nThe optional guided walk in the afternoon will take place alongside the South Tyne and Haltwhistle Burn from 1pm to 3:30pm (maximum 5km) to explore further why we think rivers need rights. \nWe will be on public footpaths\, rights of ways and pavements. We hope to exchange ideas\, challenges and solutions together as we explore the river habitat. This is not a formal guided walk and people are invited to join us at their own risk.
