Refreshments will be provided on arrival. Lunch is not provided. Haltwhistle has a number of cafes and the room will be available for packed lunches.
Aims
The aim of workshop is to explore the development of a Rights of Nature approach for the River Tyne. By the end of the workshop participants will:
- Have a raised awareness of the concept of Rights of Rivers and its relevance to the River Tyne
- Be inspired by practical examples in other areas
- Have a greater sense of connection with the river
- Be able to begin assessing the feasibility of developing a Rights of Rivers approach for the River Tyne
Guided walk
The optional guided walk in the afternoon will take place alongside the South Tyne and Haltwhistle Burn from 1pm to 3:30pm (maximum 5km) to explore further why we think rivers need rights.
We will be on public footpaths, rights of ways and pavements. We hope to exchange ideas, challenges and solutions together as we explore the river habitat. This is not a formal guided walk and people are invited to join us at their own risk.
